It’s about being Present in the moment.  

He says that, “… Like it or not, this moment is all we have to work with…”

Yet we live as if we have forever.  As if we still have the Past.  That the Future is in our hands.  That we can Control things.

We can’t even control our own Thoughts.  Our Emotions.  

Then why, oh why, do we think otherwise?

Today:  WITNESS your Thoughts.  Just witness.  Without judgments.  Without attaching emotions to them.

 

WE ALREADY HAVE HAPPINESS

 

I read that when Albert Einstein toured Japan in 1922, a bellboy delivered him a message at his hotel.  He didn’t have tip for him, so he wrote down a “Theory of Happiness” on a piece of paper.

The note recently sold for over a million dollars.

The note said:  “A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the constant pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.”

To think that one of the most brilliant minds said that a Peaceful Mind and a Peaceful Life is the Key to Happiness.

But now, look at how the world thinks “what happiness IS”.

We are constantly bombarded with advertisements.  To BUY this or that.  That we NEED these things.

That we Should DO this or that.

Work hard and you’ll get your Happiness!   

We ALREADY have happiness.  WiTHIN.

LIVE JUST LIKE A KUNG FU MASTER

 

A kung fu master, even many years After the height of his craft, still studies.  

When I was in India to teach the Yoga Instructor Teacher Training Course, the oldest living disciple (and monk) of Swami Shivananda said to me, “So you’re here to Teach.”

I replied, “… And to LEARN”.

He said, “Yes. You cannot be a Teacher unless you are also a Student.”

THE SOUL OF THE BHAGAVAT GITA

 

The Bhagavat Gita (or just Gita) is a Hindu scripture in Sanskrit.  It is in dialogue form between a prince and his guide (God).

This is the soul of the Bhagvat Gita: 

A man died... 

When he realized it, he saw God coming closer with a suitcase in his hand.

Dialogue between God and Dead Man:

God: Alright son, it's time to go.

Man: So soon? I had a lot of plans...

God: I am sorry but, it's time to go.

Man: What do you have in that suitcase?

God: Your belongings. 

Man: My belongings? You mean my things... Clothes... money...

God: Those things were never yours, they belong to the Earth.

Man: Is it my memories?

God: No. They belong to Time.

Man: Is it my talent?

God: No. They belong to Circumstance.

Man: Is it my friends and family?

God: No son. They belong to the Path you travelled.

Man: Is it my wife and children?

God: No. they belong to your Heart.

Man: Then it must be my body?

God: No, No... It belongs to Dust.

Man: Then surely it must be my Soul!

God: You are sadly mistaken son. Your Soul belongs to me.

Man, with tears in his eyes and full of fear, took the suitcase from God's hand and opened it...

Empty...

Heartbroken and tears falling down his cheeks, he asks God...

Man: I never owned anything?

God: That's right. You never owned anything.

Man: Then? What was mine?

God: Your MOMENTS. 

Every moment you lived was yours.

 

So the Bhagavat Gita says:

Do Good in every moment

Think Good in every moment

Thank God for every moment

 

Life is just a Moment.

M A T (Muscle Activation Technique)

Strength has an enormous effect on Range of Motion.  Thus, if you feel muscle tightness, the opposing muscle is most likely weak.     

MAT is a systematic approach for Evaluating and Correcting muscular imbalances.  These muscular imbalances contribute to injury, impede recovery, and compromise performance. 

MAT is a specific and unique process that is used to improve one’s ability to develop efficient muscle contraction(s) as indicated by the measurement and comparison of AROM (active range of motion) symmetry issues on each side of the body.  

The MAT process can address hundreds of muscles and joints in order to uncover the muscular issues that could be contributing to the loss of physical performance and associated subjective complaints.  

Much like a chiropractor deals with bones, MAT practitioners deal with muscles.  Muscles are the prime movers of bones.  Joints are secondary.

MAT evaluates the body as a mechanical system and the interrelationship of the joints, prioritizing weakness instead of tightness, as loss of range of motion is viewed as a strength issue. 

The body has amazing healing capacities if we just align ourselves with appropriate, well-progressed, individualized movements to stimulate positive change. 

I now base my yoga practice, and instructors on this MAT principle.
