Heartwood of a tree (dense, inner part of a tree trunk) is formed from "old" or "retired sapwood (soft, outer layer), thus the strong Spine (core) of the tree.  It takes many years to mature into the beautiful trees we so often take for granted.  We too, as humans, take many years to mature.  This Heartwood sculpture reminds me to allow myself to Grow or Mature into the person I am meant to be.  And a lot of times that take much Patience -- Growing in Body, Mind, Spirit #growinbody #growinmind #growinspirit
